Easter Celebration – Sunday, 29th April – 4.00pm

This Sunday there will be an Easter Celebration at 4.00pm at St Mary Magdalene Church. A time of worship for all ages, in the midst of the Easter season, as we continue to celebrate the joy and hope of the Easter story. We will use prayer, music, story and blessing as part of this worship, and will be joined by the Gospel Bell group http://gospelbell.com/. Gospel Bell is an ensemble of musicians and singers based in Oxfordshire and Warwickshire who play traditional Gospel songs with an uplifting spiritual edge, with choruses that everyone can join in with. Tea/coffee and refreshments will be available afterwards. Come and join us!

Church Services

CHURCH SERVICES In future Church Services will not be published monthly on the News page. However they will published at least a month in advance in the "Events" and the "Church Services" sections.

New tree for the churchyard

A new Red Oak tree was planted today in the churchyard. The Quercus Rubra will ultimately grow to 12 metres tall and will be a spectacular addition to the churchyard. It was bought to replace an Ash tree which was diseased and had to be felled. The Red Oak leaves go a deep red in autumn and should stand out most beautifully.  The tree was kindly donated to St Mary Magdalene by Hazel Steven and she supervised the planting with Clive Hunt doing much of the digging on behalf of the PCC! You can find out more about the Red Oak on the Woodland Trust website by clicking here.

Home insurance – Support your church

To celebrate their 130th anniversary, Ecclesiastical Insurance plc is offering to donate £130 to St. Mary Magdalene for every new home insurance policy taken out by local residents. This offer is not endorsed by Wardington PCC, however should you wish to add Ecclesiastical Insurance plc to your list when obtaining renewal quotes for your home insurance it could be of benefit to Wardington. Churchyard – Wood available for logs

Sadly one of the row of four lime trees in the Churchyard was recently identified as being seriously diseased with a fungus and so possibly dangerous. As a result it was felled this week. There is now a large stack of wood in the corner behind the Old School. It is in manageable lengths for anyone who wishes to collect it for further splitting and cutting down further into logs. A donation into the offertory box just inside the south door would of course be much appreciated.
