New tree for the churchyard

A new Red Oak tree was planted today in the churchyard. The Quercus Rubra will ultimately grow to 12 metres tall and will be a spectacular addition to the churchyard. It was bought to replace an Ash tree which was diseased and had to be felled. The Red Oak leaves go a deep red in autumn and should stand out most beautifully.  The tree was kindly donated to St Mary Magdalene by Hazel Steven and she supervised the planting with Clive Hunt doing much of the digging on behalf of the PCC! You can find out more about the Red Oak on the Woodland Trust website by clicking here.

There were over 70 people and a net total of just over £150 was raised for the church. We look forward to seeing even more of you next year for mulled wine, mince pies, stollen, hot chocolate and lots of good cheer!
