Wardington Cinema are screening ‘Philomena’ on Saturday 5th April

The next film night is taking place on Saturday 5th April in the Memorial Hall.  This is a change from the date (Friday 21st March) advertised in the Warbler. We will be screening the BAFTA award winning Philomena. Based on a powerful true story and led by note-perfect performances from Judi Dench and Steve Coogan, Philomena offers a profoundly affecting drama for adult filmgoers of all ages. Zen and the art of community maintenance

This Saturday, 2pm, the launch of the community led plan questionnaire in the Wardington Memorial Hall, with free tea and cakes! The community led plan is  a method of "preventive maintenance" where we identify concerns early and address them. Maybe you are concerned by litter, housing, safety, noise or just want the right social events? This is how we intend to find everyone's concerns and, with your help, fix them before they grow. Wardington Village Cinema – Philomena – Saturday 5th April

The  Wardington Village Cinema shows films for the community, so we thought it only right to give the community the opportunity to vote for the next film to be shown.  We therefore gave out voting forms at the last film evening and the results are as follows: Film Choice Number of Votes Le Weekend 14 Philomena 15 Mrs Henderson Presents 9 Hence, we are pleased to announce that Philomena will be our next film and it will be screened on Saturday 5th April (please disregard the dates shown in the Warbler as these are incorrect). 22nd March: Free tea, cakes and chinwag for CLP questionnaire

Come and help make our wonderful village an even better place by joining us in the village hall at 2pm on 22nd March! Do you think we should  invite more housing, focus on parking problems, campaign for gas or concentrate on dog-litter? Your view counts! The community led plan steering committee will be: Handing out the questionnaires, which will be used to make plans about the village. Giving out free tea and cakes. Holding a £25 prize draw to one luck person who collects their questionnaire. Describing the purpose of the questionnaire. Answering any questions you have. Weather forecast for this Friday…………..Sunshine on Leith

Welcome a respite from the current miserable weather? This Friday evening (7th Feb) at the Memorial Hall - Wardington Cinema are screening 'Sunshine on Leith'..............a 2013 British musical directed by Dexter Fletcher. It is an adapation of the hit stage show of the same name feature songs by the Proclaimers. Writing a four star review in The Observer, Mark Kermonde said "I shed a tear within the first 10 minutes and spent the rest of the movie beaming like a gibbering, love-struck fool." Doors open 7.15pm - screening commences 8.00pm Tickets can be purchased on the door (£4.00 concessions, £6.00 standard) Please bring your own nibbles and liquid refreshments Complimentary choc-ice during the intermission!!!

Mini Shed – Art, Craft, Singing & Dancing for 3 & 4-year-olds

Table Top Sale and Jumble Sale

Hopefully Spring is just around the corner and now is the time for a clean-up and turn out of your cupboards.  Here is a chance to sell some of those unwanted items which may be just what someone else is looking for. On Saturday 15th March there will be a table top and jumble sale in the Memorial Hall from 2pm to 4pm. Tables can be booked in advance for £5 by contacting Anne Wilkins on 758167 or 07951794994. Wardington Village Cinema Needs You!

Wardington Village Cinema Needs You! With just over 1 week to go until the planned 3rd screening for Wardington Village Cinema  we have only a handful of confirmed tickets sold. Due to projectionist, licence fee and equipment hire costs of £180 for each screening, we are required to sell at least 45 tickets  just to break even!  Unfortunate if enough tickets are not confirmed sold before Sunday 2nd February, this showing will have to be cancelled. First published draft of community led plan questionnaire is out, progress!

At our meeting in December we agreed to release a first draft of the questionnaire for the community led plan. We are hoping to have feedback from the parish council, from Williamscot and from Coton.
