Bowls Club Update

On 6th April 2014 Wardington Village Bowls Club held the Annual Short Mat Bowls Presentation Tournament, the finale of a fantastic 2013/2014 season and a day of social but competitive bowling.  Representatives from the leagues six local village teams put forward players to take part in the end of season bowling event, fighting it out for honour and wine prizes.  The event was kindly sponsored by Phillips Autos of Banbury.   Moreton Pinkney receive the league cup from Wardington Club President Lady Wardington. A highlight of the day was Lady Wardington (President of Wardington Bowls Club) presenting the 2013/14 Season League Cup to this year’s winners Morton Pinkney, who won one of the closest fought seasons in many years.  Runners up

Warning from Thames Valley Police

Over the past few weeks there have been a number of thefts of money and credit cards from purses and wallets where the victim has been approached and asked for change. Victims are usually elderly. They will have come out of a store where they have used their card and the suspects will have been close to see the PIN being entered. The suspects will then approach the victim outside the store, waving money and either speaking very broken English or in a foreign language. They will gesticulate and try and get the victim to open their purse or wallet as they want change. Once the wallet or purse is open they will wave their hands around whilst speaking and

Saturday night at the movies!!

Wardington Village Cinema are screening 'Philomena' starring Dame Judy Dench, this Saturday (5th April) in the Memorial Hall. Doors open 7.15pm - film commences at 8pm.  Remember to bring your own drinks and nibbles!!  Complimentary choc-ice during the interval. Tickets can be purchased on the door (£6.00 standard and £4.00 concessions).  

Neal’s Yard demo at Wardington Waddlers Toddler Group

Please join us on Thursday 27th March at the Wardington Waddlers Toddler Group for an introduction to organic health and beauty products from Neal's Yard. Emily Roberts, a Neal's Yard Independent Consultant, will be hosting the event. She can answer your questions and demonstrate the award winning products. Feel free to drop in even if you don't normally attend the group, you don't need a toddler to get in! We will be providing refreshments as usual, £2 donation requested. Thursday 27th March, 10am-12 noon at Wardington Memorial Hall.

Wardington Cinema are screening ‘Philomena’ on Saturday 5th April

The next film night is taking place on Saturday 5th April in the Memorial Hall.  This is a change from the date (Friday 21st March) advertised in the Warbler. Zen and the art of community maintenance

This Saturday, 2pm, the launch of the community led plan questionnaire in the Wardington Memorial Hall, with free tea and cakes! The community led plan is  a method of "preventive maintenance" where we identify concerns early and address them. Maybe you are concerned by litter, housing, safety, noise or just want the right social events? This is how we intend to find everyone's concerns and, with your help, fix them before they grow.
