Wardington Village Cinema – THIS FRIDAY!

Wardington Village Cinema is starting again for a new season of films. This month we will be showing the comedy "The Second Best Marigold Hotel" which has an all-star cast including Judi Dench, Maggie Smith, Bill Nighy, Dev Patel and Richard Gere! Check in again for more love and laughter for this heartwarming sequel to The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel! Now that his first venture has been proven successful, ever-confident Sonny (Patel) is busy juggling plans for a second resort... as well as his own wedding.  But his efforts are constantly hampered by hilarious complications, and in order to pull it all together, he'll need a little help and encouragement from his resident friends. Wardington Village Fete – Manor gardens, 14th June 2-5pm

The Wardington Village Fete will be held in the Manor gardens on 14th June between 2 and 5pm. Highlights this year include: Morris Dancers Best-dressed teddy competition Highland dancing Cake stall Lots of activities Pimms Barbecue Raffle The fete is to raise money for improvements to the Memorial Hall, specifically the current project of buying new chairs. Wardington Cinema – This Friday Night! (15th May)

Please join us at the Wardington Memorial Hall at 7.30 this Friday evening (15th May) for another fantastic film night, when we will be showing "The Theory of Everything": The Theory of Everything is a British biographical coming of age romantic drama film directed by James Marsh and adapted by Anthony McCarten from the memoir Travelling to Infinity: My Life with Stephen by Jane Wilde Hawking, which deals with her relationship with her ex-husband, theoretical physicist Stephen Hawking, his diagnosis of motor neuron disease, and his success in physics. The film stars Eddie Redmayne and Felicity Jones with Charlie Cox, Emily Watson, Simon McBurney, Christian McKay, and David Thewlis featured in supporting roles. Wardington Village Cinema is back in January!

Seasons Greetings from all at Wardington Village Cinema! We are excited to announce that the Wardington Village Cinema will start again on Friday 23rd January, screening the comedy "The Odd Couple"!  So please let either Paul Bimpson or Sam Young know if you intend to come along, either by telephone (see poster for contact details) or via the Wardington Cinema email (wardingtoncinema@hotmail.com). We also have great news that the reverberation panels have now been installed, which will greatly enhance the quality of the sound in the Memorial Hall. Wardington Village Cinema – The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel – Friday 12th September

Wardington Village Cinema will be screening “The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel“, An award-winning feel good film with an all-star cast, led by Judi Dench, Bill Nighy, Tom Wilkinson, and Maggie Smith! When seven cash-strapped seniors decide to "outsource" their retirement to a resort in far-off India, friendship and romance blossom in the most unexpected ways. Doors open at 7:30pm ready for 8pm start. There will be a mid film interval when free ice creams will be served. Please feel free to bring along your own food and drink to enjoy during the show. Village Cinema – Thank You

A very big thank you for the excellent support we have received from the community since the launch of the film nights earlier this year, where we have seen an average attendance of 40 and for the ‘Sunshine on Leith’ and  ‘Quartet’ screenings, over 60 came along – which is fantastic !!! We are delighted to announce and following the summer break, we will resume the film nights in the Memorial Hall in the early autumn with a regular evening feature to take place on the 2nd Friday of each month with the first few dates confirmed: ·         Friday 12th September ·         Friday 10th October ·         Friday 14th November Doors open at 7.30pm and the film will commence at 8pm. Tickets are £6.00 for standard/£4.00 for concessions

Bowls Club Update

On 6th April 2014 Wardington Village Bowls Club held the Annual Short Mat Bowls Presentation Tournament, the finale of a fantastic 2013/2014 season and a day of social but competitive bowling.  Representatives from the leagues six local village teams put forward players to take part in the end of season bowling event, fighting it out for honour and wine prizes.  The event was kindly sponsored by Phillips Autos of Banbury.   Moreton Pinkney receive the league cup from Wardington Club President Lady Wardington. A highlight of the day was Lady Wardington (President of Wardington Bowls Club) presenting the 2013/14 Season League Cup to this year’s winners Morton Pinkney, who won one of the closest fought seasons in many years.  Runners up

Neal’s Yard demo at Wardington Waddlers Toddler Group

Please join us on Thursday 27th March at the Wardington Waddlers Toddler Group for an introduction to organic health and beauty products from Neal's Yard. Emily Roberts, a Neal's Yard Independent Consultant, will be hosting the event. She can answer your questions and demonstrate the award winning products. Feel free to drop in even if you don't normally attend the group, you don't need a toddler to get in! We will be providing refreshments as usual, £2 donation requested. Thursday 27th March, 10am-12 noon at Wardington Memorial Hall.
