Message from EKFB on behalf of HS2

On the final weekend of the month, we need to close the A361, between the roundabouts on the relief road from 8pm Friday 29 August to 6am Monday 1 September.  This is to uncover the Gas main and join it to the new pipes, this will require overnight closures and could not be done at the same time as the other activities on 23 & 24 August.

As part of this work, we need to excavate the area, for this we will be using a specialist piece of equipment called a vacuum extractor. It uses powerful suction to remove soil, debris, and other materials from the ground, typically for excavation or site investigation. It’s a safer and more precise alternative to traditional digging methods, especially when working around underground utilities. This must be completed prior to the Utility owners completing their tasks. Therefore, on Friday evening, 29 Aug (from 8pm until midnight at the latest) and at a second location on Saturday morning, 30 Aug (after 9am) there will likely be additional noise from this activity.  It should only take about 2 hours for each of the two holes to complete the excavation.

We are now approaching the time for the final realignment of the A361 over the Chipping Warden green tunnel.  The final stage of this will be the road tie-ins, when we join the new road to the current road.  When dates for this two-week road closure are confirmed, I will let you know.
