WARDINGTON HANDBELL RINGERS

We will be ringing the Wardington Hand Bells again this Christmas, and we would be pleased to know if anyone would like us to visit their homes or parties on the run up to Christmas. I know that the hand bells became a start to many families' Christmas festivities for many years and we hope to be able rekindle those memories again. We will be collecting again for local charities.  Please let me know if you want me to contact you to arrange a visit. David Cooper (01295) 266788 (07966) 513341

SEVERE WEATHER AND GENERAL EMERGENCY PLAN PARISH OF WARDINGTON

SEVERE WEATHER AND GENERAL EMERGENCY PLAN PARISH OF WARDINGTON   Introduction   Oxfordshire County Council (OCC) have recommended that parishes formulate a severe weather/emergency plan which is based upon looking after the elderly, sick and infirm who may need to get to a doctor/surgery/hospital in an emergency.   Wardington Parish Council have asked me to formulate a simple, basic plan that would be readily available for ALL parishioners in a genuine case of practical assistance – and not just for severe winter weather.     SEVERE WEATHER PLAN   In the event of the roads being closed by snow, the following 4x4s are available for transportation of any ill parishioner either to the nearest Rendezvous point [R.V] for an Ambulance.

Temporary Road Closure – A361 at Wardington 17, 18, 19 October 2011

In the interests of public safety it will be necessary for Oxfordshire County Council to close a short section of the A361 to facilitate carriageway patching and iron works. A Temporary Traffic Regulation Order is being made to implement the temporary closure and will operate from Monday 17 October 2011.  The estimated duration of the works is 3 days. (The maximum duration of such a temporary closure will be 18 months or until completion of the works whichever is the earlier.) Very limited access will be maintained for emergency service vehicles and also overnight access for those residents within the closure area, subject to the progress of the works.  Please note that access routes will depend on exactly where the

Alice in Wonderland, Dec 10th in Northampton

We are hoping to arrange a coach party to the Royal and Derngate theatre on Saturday 10th December to see Alice in Wonderland. The performance starts at 5:15pm so it is ideal for families, and I understand it's very funny. Anyone who has been to this theatre will be aware that their standard is extremely high - we have had quite a few trips there during the last few years. We will have to book very soon as seats are already going fast, and so if you would like to join us perhaps you would be good enough to let me know as soon as possible and then I can get on and book everything up. A361 Delayed Re-opening – Latest

We have received the following news bulletin from the Environment Agency with  a new date for the re-opening of the road.  This is not good news and we have made our feeling's known.  There was a meeting on Wednesday attended by District Councillor Atack and all parties concerned to sort out traffic arrangements for the Cropredy festival which will be going ahead.  Full details of these will be available soon. Oxfordshire CC have this week been repairing all the potholes along the Chacombe road and on the Thorpe Road out of Wardington.  Any new potholes should still be reported to them Tel 0845 310 11 11 or via the OCC website Extended road closure on A361  Following discussions, the Environment

A361 Latest news Friday 15th July

We are still awaiting more news from the Environment Agency following their announcement last week of delays to the work on the A361 and are doing all we can to press for answers.  Changes are having to be made to the work already done regarding the width of the road.  No date is available for the re-opening of the road but it is likely that the work will continue until the end of the Summer.  Discussions are currently taking place between all parties as to how traffic will be managed for the Cropredy festival which will take place.  This is far from ideal but we will try and keep everyone informed as we receive more news. Oxfordshire highways have agreed

Kids barbecue Friday 15th July

There will be a kids' barbecue at Wardington Manor on Friday 15th July at 4:30 pm - this coming Friday. There will be Hot Dogs with Mumford's sausages and all kids from the village and their parents are very welcome. The swimming pool will also be open for the kids so bring along swimming kit if the weather's good enough. The food is free, but all donations towards the Village Hall will be very gratefully received. Anybody who is able to donate fruit, cakes and general pudding items, please bring them along.
