Short Mat Bowls Club – Silver Celebration

SILVER CELEBRATION The 16th July this year sees the 25th Anniversary of the formation of one of the village’s longest running and continuing clubs.                                    Who are we ? -  -  - - - -  We are proud to be:-      “ WARDINGTON SHORT MAT BOWLS CLUB”  The first meeting was organised by Douglas and Jean Wise and held in July 1992 at their home at The Old Coach House, Wardington. A committee was formed and membership was then 10. This shortly increased to around 20 with all but 1 being local residents. Equipment was purchased and bowling was well supported every week. Banbury Foodbank

This winter Wardington Church is supporting the Banbury Foodbank. There is now a box marked Foodbank just inside the main door of the Church. Please bring donations to this box which will then be regularly delivered to the Foodbank. Currently urgently needed food is: Tinned Fruit (400 gm) Tea Bags (80's) Dried Pasta (500 gm) UHT Milk (1 ltr) Breakfast Cereals Currently the Foodbank has plenty of: Beans Sugar NB No fresh food, only packaged food please. ZEISS' TRAVELLING CINEMATOGRAPH On December 17th, arts platform Hand Of will arrive in Wardington, with the astonishing Zeiss’ Travelling Cinematograph in tow. The Zeiss Travelling Cinematograph is a 1920s style travelling cinema and pictoral concert party for all the family, bringing the amazing marvel of moving pictures to Wardington Memorial Hall. Church Service – Sunday, 20th November

The Family Communion Service this Sunday will be at 10.30am, not at the regular 10.00am as previously published. The Vicar, Revd Hilary Campbell, will be leading the service and there will be refreshments afterwards.

Letter from the new Bishop of Oxford

DIOCESE OF OXFORD   To the clergy and people of the Diocese of Oxford Dear Friends and Colleagues, Thank you for your various messages of welcome and for your prayers following the announcement of my nomination as the Bishop of Oxford. It’s an enormous honour and privilege to be appointed to this role and I look forward very much to serving the communities of Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire in the coming years. My Confirmation of Election as Bishop of Oxford will be held on 6th July. I am due to pay homage to Her Majesty the Queen later in July and resume my place in the House of Lords.  I will continue to meet with the senior team in Oxford
