A lovely morning was had by all at Barn Farm Plants on Friday 27th September. £487 was raised for Macmillan. A big thank you to everyone who supported the event.

The first match of the local area short mat bowls league got started on Thursday 26th September with an away event at Syresham village hall. The Syresham team were very welcoming and after a little confusion regarding who was to play who on which mat, the action got under way. Both Wardington teams found the slower mats and heavier jacks hard to get used to and therefore were out of luck in the first 8 ends with Lynda, Ralf and Margret (team 1) falling behind 11 -3 and Eddie, Brent and Sam (team 2) finding themselves unlucky to be 7 - 3 down after some inspired bowling from Syresham's Skipper Barbara. We are very excited to announce the first (of hopefully many) Wardington Village Cinema evenings! The inaugural event will take place on Saturday 9th November at the Memorial Hall and will screen "Quartet" - Certificate 12A. A hilarious comedy, set in a home for retired musicians; the annual concert to celebrate Verdi's birthday is disrupted by the arrival of Jean (played by Dame Maggie Smith), an eternal diva and the former wife of one of the residents. The winners of this year's Wardington Garden Club show were, in the junior category, Byron Acors of The Plough in Upper Wardington and the overall winner was Jean Butler of The Jetty. This evening there was a fire at the Wobbly Wheel in Shotteswell which has gutted a significant part of the building. I happened to be flying over it and took the pictures here:
Last Sunday (1st September), I attended the Wardington Gardening Club Flower, Produce and Craft Show at the Memorial Hall. There was a very good turn out to see the an impressive array submissions in 72 different classes! Below are a few photographs I took of the event:
Temporary Traffic Regulation Order – S14 Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 Temporary Road Closure – Wardington - Church Street A request has been received from Optimise (Water) LLP for a temporary road closure to apply to the whole of Church Street, Wardington whilst essential new water service connections works are carried out. A temporary Traffic Regulation Order is being made to implement the temporary closure and will operate from 14 October 2013. The estimated duration of the works programme is 3 days.
