Sadly the weather forecast is for heavy rain at 6pm once again this year. We will therefore move the annual Carols on the Green to the Village Hall. We will start at 6pm and mulled wine, mince pies and hot sausage rolls will be served throughout. Please tell your friends and neighbours to come to the village hall instead.
Monday 2nd December saw Robert Harwood launch his autobiography entitled ”My Life in Service” at the Plough in Upper Wardington. Attended by Neil Gadsby, Chairman and Founder of The Katharine House Hospice and large numbers of villagers, the event was great fun and very well supported. Mr Gadsby gave a very warm speech of thanks to Robert and Robert replied with a very moving tribute to all who had helped in publishing the book. Robert's commitment and dedication to Wardington was clearly greatly appreciated by all who attended however his popularity within the community may well be dimmed once everyone reads what he's written about them in the book!

Last Sunday (1st September), I attended the Wardington Gardening Club Flower, Produce and Craft Show at the Memorial Hall. There was a very good turn out to see the an impressive array submissions in 72 different classes! Below are a few photographs I took of the event:
Here's an idea from Greg Peters: You, your children and other local families might enjoy taking part in the butterfly count, which continues till the end of August. Visit the website to register and find out more information: http://www.bigbutterflycount.org/
A fire in Upper Wardington caused by dry pine needles and leylandii cuttings is being put out behind Brakespear's barn as your correspondent is writing. Two fire appliances are on the scene and the fire is now under control. The whole of Upper Wardington came out to see what was happening and once it was established that no people or property were in danger, there was great excitement amongst the children especially. The fire hydrant in the road by the old pool was used to supply water to the fire appliances and the children were on hand to ensure that there was enough torchlight for the firefighters to see the connection!
