Flood in Thorpe Road, Upper Wardington.
Wardington Parish Council have been trying to resolve this problem since November 2024.
Jetting of the drains was arranged very quickly but did not solve the problem.
In early December following the heavy rains the flooding was reported to OCC Highway, Engagement Team, who forward this info to the ‘land drainage officer’ to get together as soon as they are available and see what’s going on with the gully pipe and exit line into the marsh land adjacent. There was no time scale given as when this may be acted on.
Prior to last evenings parish council meeting the parish clerk chased OCC again on this urgent issue, with the following reply :-
“that they would chase the ‘CCTV inspection ordered for the area, and also a site inspection by Artur and the land drainage officer from Cherwell District Council (CDC) to locate any possible issues at the exit pipe as this may be causing the pipe to back up and therefore not drain on the road side.’
Again, there was no time indication as to when this may happen.
At the parish council meeting a parishioner advised council that residents are fed up with the flooding near the pond in Wardington. Council completely understand and agreed with the statement. The parishioner added that they think the issue is in the field and would like to know who is responsible, if the issue is in the field.
Council shall continue to monitor the situation and give updates to events and actions.
