We will be widening the existing road at three bends on the A361 within Wardington, installing a puffin crossing and carrying out other associated road improvement works. Archaeology Presentation HS2 Uncovering historic Britain Date: Tuesday 11th June 2019 Time: 7pm to 8pm Venue: Chipping Warden Village Hall, Culworth Road, Chipping Warden. OX17 1TL High Speed Two (HS2) is the new high speed railway for Britain. Before we build bridges, tunnels, tracks and stations we will be undertaking the largest programme of archaeology ever in the UK We would like to invite you to an archaeological presentation to inform you about the scale of works being undertaken in your area and any findings to date. HS2 Update - A361 Road Improvements In case you are not aware, Dawnus working on behalf of Fusion, HS2’s Enabling Works Contractor, entered administration on 14th March 2019. Dawnus were appointed to construct the by-pass at Chipping Warden so work has been halted. In addition, Dawnus was also the sub-contractor responsible for carrying out the necessary road improvements through Wardington. These road works were expected to start soon but now will be subject to some delay. HS2 have advised us that the news about Dawnus was disappointing for them and the wider UK construction industry, HS2 and Fusion are working hard to implement contingency plans to ensure the works are delivered with minimal disruption. Wardington Garden Club AGM 2019 The Club visits local gardens in the summer. We take part in the Fete at The Manor and have a visiting speaker in November. Attached is a link to the presentation slides used by HS2 at the community briefing held in Wardington Church, 5th December 2018. The briefing included presentations from the main contractors EiffageKier (EK) and Fusion. The Fusion slides include the proposed road and safety improvements to the A361 to manage the increased traffic volumes during the construction phase. This includes the widening of three corners through the village to allow vehicles to pass more easily, the installation of a Puffin crossing for pedestrians to access the bus stop and extending the 30mph limit by incorporating the signs into new village gates. HS2 Traffic Surveys Please see attached link relating to Advance Works Notification for traffic surveys to be carried out by Atkins on behalf of HS2. HS2-Atkins-Highway-Condition-Surveys-October-2018 HS2 anticipate that the coring surveys will be mid October for a couple of days and the FWD surveys will commence beginning of November for approximately two weeks.
