Family Olympics – photos

A thoroughly enjoyable afternoon was had by all at the "Sizzling Sausage Family Olympics". Delicious sausages were supplied my Mumfords and there was a cake stall, a very good raffle and information about the Community-led Development Plan. There were a number of individual races for all age groups, a wellie-throwing competition, won by Mark Page, and team sports which included Dress/Undress, Egg and Spoon race and a three-legged race. Thanks go to Steve Mackenzie-Lawrie and his team for their extremely good organisation. The afternoon was designed to promote the Community-led Development Plan, an initiative sponsored by Cherwell District Council and designed to give all members of the community a say about their village and the wider community. Belatedly we've added some photos of the Jubilee Tea in the Manor gardens on 2nd June 2012. Many thanks to all who came and supported. The cost of tea, Pimms and hot dogs was only meant to cover costs, however thanks to the generosity of all present we made a surplus of £100 which has been donated to the church roof appeal.

WARDINGTON HANDBELL RINGERS

We will be ringing the Wardington Hand Bells again this Christmas, and we would be pleased to know if anyone would like us to visit their homes or parties on the run up to Christmas. I know that the hand bells became a start to many families' Christmas festivities for many years and we hope to be able rekindle those memories again. We will be collecting again for local charities.  Please let me know if you want me to contact you to arrange a visit. David Cooper (01295) 266788 (07966) 513341

Temporary Road Closure – A361 at Wardington 17, 18, 19 October 2011

In the interests of public safety it will be necessary for Oxfordshire County Council to close a short section of the A361 to facilitate carriageway patching and iron works. A Temporary Traffic Regulation Order is being made to implement the temporary closure and will operate from Monday 17 October 2011.  The estimated duration of the works is 3 days. (The maximum duration of such a temporary closure will be 18 months or until completion of the works whichever is the earlier.) Very limited access will be maintained for emergency service vehicles and also overnight access for those residents within the closure area, subject to the progress of the works.  Please note that access routes will depend on exactly where the

A361 Latest news Friday 15th July

We are still awaiting more news from the Environment Agency following their announcement last week of delays to the work on the A361 and are doing all we can to press for answers.  Changes are having to be made to the work already done regarding the width of the road.  No date is available for the re-opening of the road but it is likely that the work will continue until the end of the Summer.  Discussions are currently taking place between all parties as to how traffic will be managed for the Cropredy festival which will take place.  This is far from ideal but we will try and keep everyone informed as we receive more news. Oxfordshire highways have agreed

There will be a kids' barbecue at Wardington Manor on Friday 15th July at 4:30 pm - this coming Friday.
