Minutes of the HS2 Village meeting 15th December 2015

Minutes of the HS2 Village Update Meeting led by Wardington Parish Council – HS2 Action Group Tuesday 15th December 2015 Location: 7.30pm in Wardington Memorial Hall HS2 Action Group in attendance: Nigel Bankes, George Page, Malcolm Patterson, Charles Holbech & Bob Jarrett.   Parishioners: Approximately 40   Cllr George Page welcomed all to the meeting and explained that the purpose was to provide the village with the progress made since the last village meeting in July 2015.   Nigel Bankes commented on how supportive and helpful  Victoria Prentice MP had been during the project, especially with respect to Oxfordshire County Council and HS2, and that we were now in contact with Transport consultants to aid our case. 2015 Poppy Appeal

Many thanks to everyone who gave so generously this year to the Poppy Appeal. The total reached by Wardington, Williamscot and Chacombe was £1,302.25 (a record amount) with £168.65 coming from the Church collection. Wardington Village Cinema Night is Going Ahead as Planned!! Doors open 6.45pm Tomorrow (Friday)

We are very pleased to announce that the Wardington Village Cinema Christmas special screening of Elf will be going ahead as planned! If you haven't let us know you are planning to attend, its not too late, there is plenty of space and payment is taken on the door (£7.50 Standard, £5.50 concessions).  Mulled wine and mince pies included in the price of the ticket. Minutes of the Wardington Parish Council Meeting   Location:  Wardington Memorial Hall Date: Tuesday, 24th November, 2015 (7:30pm) In Attendance: Mr G Page (Chair), Mr N Bankes (Vice-Chair), Mr I Franklin, Mr G Martin, Mrs A Pasco, Mr M Patterson, Mr K Atack (District Councillor), Mr B Jarrett (Clerk) Apologies: Mr Atack said that he had to leave the meeting early to attend another meeting. This resulted in a sequence change to the agenda. Elf at Wardington Village Cinema this Friday 18th December – Doors open earlier than usual at 6.45pm

This is a reminder that we are screening Elf at Wardington Village Cinema this coming Friday (18th December). Please do join us for this wonderful festive family film for all ages, please note the earlier than usual start time (doors open 6.45 pm for a 7.30 pm) which it is hoped will encourage younger villagers to attend. Mulled wine and Mince Pies will be served prior to the start of the film, included in the ticket price of £7.50 (£5.50 concessions). Christmas bin collections and opening hours

Residents are being advised of changes to Cherwell District Council’s bin collections and opening times over the festive period. Only bins due to be emptied on a Friday will be affected by the Christmas break, with those due to be emptied on Friday, 25 December (Christmas Day) taking place four days earlier on Monday, 21 December. The following week, collections due on Friday, 1 January (New Year’s Day) will also take place four days earlier on Monday, 28 December. All other collections will take place as normal. Elderly Targeted by Fake Police Officers

There has been a recent series of incidents whereby fraudsters either phone or attend the home address of elderly members of the public, claiming to be police officers. The fake officer/s will claim that they are investigating a fraud which they believe the elderly person to be a victim of. The fake officer/s will then request the bank cards and personal identification numbers (PIN) of the victim and claim these are needed for investigation purposes. If the first contact was made by a phone call, the fake officer/s will tell the victim that someone will be over to collect the evidence. In one case the victim was instructed to attend their local bank and withdraw all of the money from
