News from the Memorial Hall

IMPROVEMENTS TO THE HALL As recently reported in The Warbler the planned improvements to the Hall took place in December. Firstly the reverberation panels have been fixed to almost the entire area of the main Hall ceiling. This has resulted in a significant reduction in the ‘echo’ in the Hall leading to much improved acoustics and speech intelligibility generally, especially on occasions such as cinema nights and bingo. The terraced area at the far end of the Hall has now been paved with quality natural stone slabs. News on fibre broadband

For those interested, I have information from BT about faster broadband. The timescale for Wardington is still showing "by December 2015". We will be getting up to 80Mbps if you are close to the cabinet, but can expect 40Mbps if you are down by the Hare and Hounds. All houses that already have broadband will be able to switch. You won't get a speed increase automatically, you will have to request it when it becomes available. If you have an old ASDL modem then you may need a new one. Wardington Village Cinema – next screening Friday 20th February

For your diary!!  The next film night is to take place of Friday 20th February in the Memorial Hall where we will be screening the hilarious British comedy........... "What we did on our holiday" staring Rosamund Pike, David Tennant and Billy Connolly. Doors open 7.30pm with the film to commence promptly at 8.00pm.  Concessions £4.00/Standard £6.00.  The ticket price includes a complimentary ice cream in the interval.  We will also be holding a raffle.  All surplus will go towards improving the Memorial Hall facilities. Start plans for our community

This Saturday (24/01/15) we will start creating the action plans that address the concerns in the community led plan questionnaire. This is your opportunity to help decide how the parish can be improved. We hope to see you at 4pm in the village hall for a short meeting where we will describe the process and form action groups. Your support is very welcome!

This Friday night is film night!!!

A gentle reminder that this Friday (16th)  is film night at the Memorial hall.  By popular demand - Wardington Village Cinema are screening 'The Odd Couple' starring Jack Lemmon and Walter Mathau. Doors open 7.30am - film commences at 8pm prompt. Please bring your own drinks and nibbles.  Complimentary ice creams will be distributed during the interval. Any surplus from the film nights is used to help with improvements to the village hall, however we do need at least 35 attendees to break even.  Many recent users of the hall may have noted the reverberation panels installed towards the end of November which have made a huge difference to the sound quality now experienced within the main hall. Results of Community Led Plan Questionnaire

In 2015 we are starting to look at improvements and we will be holding our first meeting on 24th January 2015 at 4pm in the village hall. We will need people to come and take action!
