Curry & Quiz success!

Thank you to everyone who came to the Curry & Quiz evening last night. Over 60 people came and enjoyed a variety of curries, cooked by volunteers from across the village, washed down with plenty of beer and wine. The quiz was expertly run by Helen Young, ably assisted by husband Sam, with questions spanning multiple subjects and time periods. The winning team were presented with six bottles of wine thanks to the Friends of St Mary Magdalene. Chair of the Friends of St Mary Magdalene, Steve Mackenzie-Lawrie, made an appeal for new volunteers and committee members to join. Please contact Steve at steve.mlawrie@btinternet.com.

Carols on the Green, Wed 22nd Dec at 6pm

This year's Carols on the Green will go ahead as planned at 6pm on Wednesday 22nd December on the green in Upper Wardington. We will be accompanied by the Wardington Hand Bell Ringers as usual. Mulled wine and mince pies will be served. Please be respectful of other people's space. Nobody wants to catch Covid at Christmas so please take a lateral flow test on the day so that we can all enjoy singing carols together without worrying. We will be collecting for the Friends of St Mary Magdalene - please bring some cash and give generously. The mulled wine and mince pies are free, however we greatly appreciate a donation of at least £1.50 each. The event will last

The 2019 Call My Bluff Wine Tasting Evening – A Huge success

This year’s Call My Bluff Wine Tasting evening held at the Memorial Village Hall proved to be a huge success with a record-breaking number of attendees. The evening was sponsored by local wine supplier North Oxfordshire Wine based in Little Bourton. This family run business provided 8 different wines for attendees to enjoy, together with a case of wines for the winning team and a generous donation of a fabulous raffle prize. 10 teams took part in the evening and featured three “bluffers” from the village, Catherine Jenkinson, Linda Ayers and Simon Gibbs each of them trying to persuade attendees that their description of the wine was the correct one for the wine being tasted.
