New Vicar’s Licensing Service, Wed. 6th September 7:30pm

The Revd Canon Sarah Fenby will be joining us in September and will formally take over at her Licensing Service on Wednesday, 6th September at 7.30pm in Wardington church. The formal service, led by the Bishop of Dorchester, will be a happy and joyous occasion for Wardington and all the five parishes within the Shires’ Edge benefice. Everyone is welcome. Hello! I’m delighted to introduce myself prior to my licensing on Wednesday 6th September as the next Vicar of The Shires Edge Benefice . I’m Sarah, and in my 23rd year of ordained ministry, mother of two fabulous young people, (a bookworm and a rower) and wife to Nick, a plant scientist and wonderfully supportive husband. As a family we enjoy listening to music, watching films, and eating together. I grew up in Kent (one of 5 siblings), and have rural village life in my DNA. Garden Club first visit of the season Thursday 25th May

Our first Wardington Garden Club 2023 visit is on Thursday May 25 at 6.30 It is to the garden of Richard and Daphne Preston Primrose Garden North Side Steeple Aston OX25 4SE   Richard will put an A Frame on the pavement to make it easy to find. There is parking on site for 6 cars. Others can park on the street.   Richard came and gave us a very interesting talk about the history and development of Primrose Garden at our annual meeting in March. Coronation celebrations, Saturday 6th May, from 5pm

Although there are no village-wide plans to celebrate the Coronation, there are gatherings in the village on Saturday 6th May from 5pm to toast our new King & Queen. If you wish to join in, please bring an umbrella, chair, picnic rug, children's tea, cake, sandwiches, a bottle / drink and some nibbles as you wish. Everybody is welcome, there is no formality, it's just a nice excuse for the community to get together. Gatherings are either on School Green (outside Clive & Philippa Hunt’s house, opposite the church) or near the Old Pool in Upper Wardington (where we have the carol singing), but not underneath the trees.  There will be bunting and good cheer, weather permitting!
