CONSULTATION – Wardington & Williamscot proposed 20mph Speed Limits

CONSULTATION – Wardington & Williamscot proposed 20mph Speed Limits Oxfordshire County Council wants to make our built environments safer and more attractive places to walk and cycle. To enable this, 20mph speed restrictions are being used to help promote alternative modes of transport for local travel. Further details on how the council is considering making 20mph the new 30mph for Oxfordshire communities can be found here. We're therefore asking for your views on the proposal to introduce a 20mph speed limit throughout Wardington (including Upper Wardington) and Williamscot, replacing the existing 30mph speed limits in their entirety in the process. The proposals are being put forward following road safety concerns raised by the parish, and form part of a countywide

Coronation celebrations, Saturday 6th May, from 5pm

Although there are no village-wide plans to celebrate the Coronation, there are gatherings in the village on Saturday 6th May from 5pm to toast our new King & Queen. If you wish to join in, please bring an umbrella, chair, picnic rug, children's tea, cake, sandwiches, a bottle / drink and some nibbles as you wish. Everybody is welcome, there is no formality, it's just a nice excuse for the community to get together. Gatherings are either on School Green (outside Clive & Philippa Hunt’s house, opposite the church) or near the Old Pool in Upper Wardington (where we have the carol singing), but not underneath the trees.  There will be bunting and good cheer, weather permitting! Going forward there will be a small cost (approx £3) to cover the hall hire cost and refreshments. There are some toys at the hall from previous groups, but feel free to bring a toy for your little one until we work out what is needed on a regular basis. Any questions, feedback, or want to get involved in

Captain Tom’s Flag by Roderick Stell

“Tomorrow will be a good day” is the expression of hope for the future which many of us associate with the late Captain Tom Moore. He caught the public’s eye when, one hundred years of age, he set out to raise some money for the NHS by walking round his garden with his Zimmer-frame, this was in gratitude for the care he received during a life-threatening illness. Caught up by the media, the few hundred pounds he had hoped to raise became millions. Captain Tom’s autobiography of 2020 came to my attention after his death because he was well-known for his roots in Keighley, my own home town, and I discovered that he and my father had both served in
