A361 Proposed 30mph Speed Limit Extension & Puffin Crossing

Oxfordshire County Council proposes to make changes on the A361 Banbury Road in Wardington, the changes are for road safety reasons and to specifically help mitigate the expected increase in traffic (specifically HGVs) linked to the HS2 construction works: A361 Banbury Road: to extend the 30mph speed limit  northwest of the Hare & Hounds PH by 68 metres, in place of the current 50mph, and to install a Puffin crossing (signal controlled for use by pedestrians) approximately 75m* south of the southern junction of the unnamed road leading to Edgcote. * dimensions are approximate, taken from the centre of the junction to the centre of the feature. HS2 – Traffic Surveys

HS2 Traffic Surveys Please see attached link relating to Advance Works Notification for traffic surveys to be carried out by Atkins on behalf of HS2. HS2-Atkins-Highway-Condition-Surveys-October-2018 HS2 anticipate that the coring surveys will be mid October for a couple of days and the FWD surveys will commence beginning of November for approximately two weeks. Drop in sessions: The next local-drop in session held by HS2, to keep you up to date about the project in the area, is on Tuesday, 2nd October 2018, at Chipping Warden Village Hall, 3-6pm. HS2 Update   Wardington Parish Council have received an update regarding the progress of the following HS2 related work. HS2 Community: Drop-in sessions

HS2 COMMUNITY DROP-IN SESSIONS   We will be holding our first drop-in session at Chipping Warden Village Hall in May. This will be an opportunity to come and speak with members of the delivery teams (both from Fusion and HS2). We will be continuing to hold monthly drop-in sessions within the wider community to discuss the plans and developments of the scheme. HS2 proposed mitigation measures on A361 affecting Wardington The link below is the Wardington Parish Council's response to OCC Highways, in respect to the HS2 proposed mitigating measures to the A361. This was also sent to HS2 In summary the HS2 proposals cover:- Carriageway widening to three bends through the village. Changes/movement to speed limit signs with vehicle activated signs on entrance to village, with various road markings. Installation of a puffin crossing for the bus stop, (unlikely to be approved by OCC). Additional chevron signing at the bottom of Williamscot Hill.
