Harvest Supper – Reminder to buy your tickets

A gentle reminder that this year's Harvest Supper is on Saturday 3rd October at 7:30pm in the Memorial Hall. Please get your tickets from Andrew & Ginny Steven, Tite Cottage in Upper Wardington, by knocking on the door, calling 01295 750765 or emailing ginny@asteven.com. Tickets are £10 for adults and £7.50 for OAPs and children. Please make cheques payable to Wardington PCC. Please note that we won't be issuing physical tickets this year. Do join the Friends of St Mary Magdalene for this very enjoyable village event. Supper is cottage pie made by the Friends, followed by apple pie and cheese and biscuits. There will be a cash bar and raffle. Thanks for your support.

Church Bells – HM The Queen

The Church bells will be rung on Wednesday, 9th September at 10.00am to celebrate the Queen becoming the longest ever reigning monarch.  

Village defibrillator

I was wondering if anyone in the village is interested in setting up a group to consider raising money to get a defibrillator for the village? This might include a course for learning how to use it (which would take about 20 minutes) and training up as many people as possible in first aid. Wardington Village Cinema – Friday 25th September

To kick off the new film night season to take place in the Memorial Hall, on Friday 25th September we will be screening the Second Best Exotic Marigold Hotel.  Doors open 7.15pm - film commences at 8pm.  The interval will include a raffle prize draw and a complimentary ice cream.

The Friends of St. Mary Magdalene are once again pleased to be organising the annual Harvest Supper on Saturday 3rd October 2015 at 7:30pm in the Memorial Hall Tickets, priced at £10 for adults, £7.50 for OAPs and children, are available from Andrew & Ginny Steven on 01295 750765 or any other member of the Friends committee. Please join us for cottage pie followed by apple pie and cheese & biscuits. There will be a cash bar and raffle. The evening is always great fun so please do encourage your friends and neighbours to join in. We are especially keen to welcome new residents of the village!

“Ride & Stride”, Saturday 12th Sept, 10am – 6pm

The Annual Ride and Stride Event is taking place on Saturday 12th September between 10am and 6pm. This is a sponsored challenge organised by the interdominational Oxfordshire Historic Churches Trust which support local churches, half of the sponsorship money goes to the nominated church and half to the Trust. People can help by either riding (cycling or horse riding) or striding (walking) to visit as many churches as they can on the day; or by sponsoring those taking part – including those on church duty! Wardington Flower, Produce & Craft Show at the Memorial Hall from 2:30pm on Sunday 13th September 2015 The Committee would like to extend an invitation to everyone to come along and join in, and especially to any new villagers or to people who may not have thought about entering before. The emphasis is more on friendly competition, meeting friends and enjoying a happy day, rather than being OTT on the serious side. Please come along and join in, and help keep alive this enjoyable tradition in Wardington. The Show will be open to everyone from 2.30pm, and tea and cakes will be served throughout. Burglary – Williamscot. Monday 17th August. 1.30pm.

Message sent by Deborah Hextall (Police, NHW & Community Messaging Co-ordinator, Cherwell & West Oxfordshire LPA) A male was seen leaving the property at the time. A grey golf car, part index number KY55... was also seen leaving the area. The offender had attempted to gain entry to the property by smashing a rear kitchen window. No entry was gained. Please alert neighbours and remain extra vigilant.
