Garden Club Stall at the Village Fete

Jean Butler is organising a Garden Club plant stall at the fete on 14 June. Gardening books will also be on sale. Please donate any plants and books that you can spare. She will also require some help on the day. Jean says, "I would be grateful if you would drop any contributions at my house as soon as possible. Alternatively, if it helps, I will collect them". Wardington Village Fete – Manor gardens, 14th June 2-5pm

The Wardington Village Fete will be held in the Manor gardens on 14th June between 2 and 5pm. Highlights this year include: Morris Dancers Best-dressed teddy competition Highland dancing Cake stall Lots of activities Pimms Barbecue Raffle The fete is to raise money for improvements to the Memorial Hall, specifically the current project of buying new chairs. NOTICE OF PARISH COUNCILLOR VACANCY   There are two vacancies on Wardington Parish Council and these positions will be filled by co-option at the parish council meeting on Tuesday, 21st June 2015 (7:30pm) at Wardington Memorial Hall. Should more than one application be received for each vacancy, councillors will decide the appointment by a vote, or series of votes, in order to obtain a majority decision. To be considered for co-option, applicants must be at least 18 years old and meet at least one of the following criteria:   Be registered as a Local Government Elector for Wardington Parish on the current Electoral Register. HS2 Meeting Summary (May 19th)

Summary of the HS2 Meeting led by Wardington Parish Council held on Tuesday May 19th 2015 at 7.30pm in Wardington Memorial Hall In Attendance:   Mr G Page (Chair), Mr N Bankes (Vice-Chair), Mr M Patterson, Mrs A Pascoe, Mr M Hickman (Clerk) Apologies: Mr K Atack (District Councillor), Mr G Martin Parishioners and Visitors: Approximately FIFTY Presentation Mr Page presented the HS2 presentation. This can be seen here Clerk passed a sheet of paper around during the presentation for all those who wished to be part of an action group to submit their contact details. Discussion Following the presentation, the discussion was opened up to the floor. Councillors did their best to answer questions raised using the information currently known.

Minutes of the Annual Meeting of Wardington Parish Council held on Tuesday 19th May 2015 at 7.00pm in Wardington Memorial Hall In Attendance:  Mr G Page, Mr N Bankes, Mrs A Pascoe, Mr M Patterson, Mr M Hickman (Clerk) Apologies: Mr K Atack (District Councillor), Mr G Martin Mr Murray and Mr Fenermore stepped down at the end of the last term. The Chairman expressed his thanks for their service which, in Mr Fenemore’s case, extended over more than 30 years. His experience will be missed. Minutes of the Previous Meeting (May 13th 2014): These were agreed, signed and entered into the minutes book in June 2014 to prevent data loss. 1. Mobile Library Timetable

Following a recent review of the mobile library service, Oxfordshire County Council have identified that they can better serve the needs of people who find it difficult to get to library buildings by joining up our mobile services and providing better stopping places with longer stops. The new routes and timetables will be introduced on Monday 6th July 2015.   The mobile library will stop in Wardington at: The Old School on 10:00 on Wednesday 15th July (departing 10:20) and then every two weeks henceforth

Diocese of Oxford – Pastoral Letter

At the request of the Bishop of Dorchester (Acting Bishop of Oxford), the following letter was read out in all Churches in the Diocese of Oxford last Sunday: Pentecost 2015 Pastoral Letter from the Bishops, Dean, Archdeacons and Diocesan Secretary to the Clergy and Churchwardens of the Oxford Diocese   When the day of Pentecost had come, they were all together in one place (Acts 2.1)   Grace, mercy and peace from God the Father and Christ Jesus our Lord.   Clearly it has come as a disappointment that the Crown Nominations Commission were unable to nominate someone to be the next Bishop of Oxford at their recent meeting. I have just received the following email from Victoria Prentis MP: Dear Mr Steven, Thank you very much for your email raising concern over HS2, and specifically the potential impact on Wardington. I’ve been an opponent of HS2 since the day it was announced by the last Labour Government. I have been a Director of Transport Sense, an organisation that fights against the plans. I do not think the business case has been made. I believe that if built, the line will destroy communities. The construction works would have a severe adverse effect across great swathes of the constituency, including the centre of Banbury where the additional traffic would create a logjam.
