New Business 1.1 Appointment of advisory committee The chair proposed the appointment of an advisory committee to: Prepare a parliamentary petition on behalf of the parish council in response to the HS2 construction proposals. Set the strategy for the future campaign Represent the parsh council in the campaign, e.g. attending House of Commons Select Committee hearings. This was agreed by resolution. Hunt for Sewage Pumping Stations

Thames Water is appealing to customers to help identify privately owned sewage pumping stations. Thames Water will take responsibility for around 4,000 pumping in October 2016, but needs to track down 1,800 currently off its radar. New legislation means sewage pumping stations, which power wastewater away from properties and out into the public sewer pipe network, currently owned and maintained by customers will become legally owned and operated by the local water company. The pumping stations are found in all shapes and sizes, and can be in places where there are a number of properties needing to connect to the public sewer network. Village Responses from the HS2 Update Meeting

Thank you to everyone that sent in responses to the questions put forward by the parish council regarding the specific effects of HS2 construction HGV traffic on individuals, homes and businesses etc. I could not reply to you all but I have collated all the responses I received to produce a document that runs 20 pages and 10,000 words long! The HS2 Action Group will use this to assist them in drafting a parliamentary petition this week. Your responses are a great help and hopefully the Action Group can work many of your concerns into the debate. The petiton will be delivered to parliament on August 12th. Stay tuned.

Summary of the HS2 Update Meeting led by Wardington Parish Council held on Thursday July 23rd 2015 at 7.00pm in Wardington Memorial Hall In Attendance:   Mr G Page (Chair), Mr N Bankes (Vice-Chair), Mr M Patterson, Mrs A Pascoe, Mr G Martin, Mr K Atack (District Councillor), Mr M Hickman (Clerk) Visitors: Victoria Prentis (MP for Banbury), Stephanie Garnett (Senior Parliamentary Assistant to Victoria Prentis), Mark Kemp (Deputy Director Commercial OCC), Charles Holbech (Wardington HS2 Action Group) Parishioners: Approximately SIXTY   1. URGENT. RESPONSES REQUIRED FURTHER TO HS2 MEETING

In the meeting of the village held on 23 July 2013 the Parish Council sought input from the village community as to the anticipated impact of HS2 traffic on homes, individuals, businesses etc in Wardington and the surrounding area. The Council would be grateful for specific information and assistance on the following: How would you describe the demographic of village? What is the current use of the A361 by those living in the village? Do people cross it by foot, or walk along the pavement? Are there any homes/individuals/businesses likely be significantly affected by an increase in passing traffic e.g. roadside cottages? Are there any other particularly sensitive receptors in the village e.g. the nursing home. Identification of specific points

Sufficient cause for presenting a Parliamentary Petition has been confirmed by our solicitors. Playground 200 Club

The village playground is funded by subscriptions to the 200 club. £1 per month buys one number entered into the monthly prize draw. There are two prizes drawn each month. First prize : £20 Second prize: £10. Parish Council Minutes (June)

 Minutes of the Meeting of Wardington Parish Council held on Tuesday 23rd June 2015 at 7.30pm in Wardington Memorial Hall In Attendance:  Mr G Page (Chair), Mr K Atack (District Councillor), Mr G Martin, Mr M Patterson, Mr M Hickman (Clerk), Mrs Jan Funnell (Parishioner) Apologies: Mr N Bankes (Vice-Chair), Mrs A Pascoe Minutes of the Previous Meetings (May 26th): Agreed and signed 1. Matters arising from previous meetings 1.1 HS2 The council met with MP Victoria Prentis on June 12th at Wardington Manor. Thank you to Bridget and Forbes Elworthy for hosting the occasion. Victoria Prentis agreed with concerns about HGV traffic and is keen to work to find a solution. She has since undertaken to arrange for representatives from HS2

Friday night is film night!!!

This coming Friday (26th) will be our last film night for the current season and to add to the occasion we will be holding a BBQ on the new patio at the rear of the Memorial Hall.  BBQ is inclusive of the ticket cost (Standard £7.50/Concessions £5.50).  Please bring your own drinks and nibbles.  A complimentary choc ice is also included in the ticket price.  By popular demand we will also be running a raffle with proceeds (including surplus on ticket sales) goingtowards further improvements to the Memorial Hall's facilities. The final film for this current season (we will be back in September - dates to follow) is 'Chef' - a comedy starring Dustin Hoffman and Robert Downey Junior. BBQ
