Following a recent review of the mobile library service, Oxfordshire County Council have identified that they can better serve the needs of people who find it difficult to get to library buildings by joining up our mobile services and providing better stopping places with longer stops. The new routes and timetables will be introduced on Monday 6th July 2015.   The mobile library will stop in Wardington at: The Old School on 10:00 on Wednesday 15th July (departing 10:20) and then every two weeks henceforth

Support from Victoria Prentis MP

I have just received the following email from Victoria Prentis MP: Dear Mr Steven, Thank you very much for your email raising concern over HS2, and specifically the potential impact on Wardington. I’ve been an opponent of HS2 since the day it was announced by the last Labour Government. I have been a Director of Transport Sense, an organisation that fights against the plans. I do not think the business case has been made. I believe that if built, the line will destroy communities. The construction works would have a severe adverse effect across great swathes of the constituency, including the centre of Banbury where the additional traffic would create a logjam. I feel there are better ways of spending

All are encouraged to write to our MP, Victoria Prentis, to express our collective concern about the impact of HS2 construction traffic on Wardington and the A361 in general. Her email address is victoria.prentis.mp@parliament.uk. Please keep any eye on the new HS2 page on this website.

Go for a main course with your allocated host. Gather for cheese and pudding (and maybe a couple of extra glasses of something) at the Memorial Hall. EVERYBODY is welcome. It's a great opportunity for new members of our community to meet fellow residents and for all of us to enjoy this ever-popular event and raise funds to support The Friends of St. Mary Magdalene.

HS2 Community Meeting REMINDER

A reminder that there is a community meeting TOMORROW EVENING, Tuesday 19th May, at 7:30pm in the Memorial Hall, to discuss the very serious environmental implications of HS2, including the huge volume of construction traffic anticipated on the A361. This meeting is intended for residents of Wardington, Williamscot and Coton to listen to the Parish Council's plans and to voice their own opinions. There will be follow-up meetings with members of Oxordshire CC, your local MP Victoria Prentis and others in authority. It is vital that as many as possible attend tomorrow evening. We need to be of one mind and mobilised as a community to ensure the best outcome.

Dog fouling of the sports field

Please be reminded that the Sports Field is privately owned and the use of it is currently for the benefit and enjoyment of villagers, kindly given previously by Lord and Lady Wardington and currently by the family members who are the owners. Dog fouling is now a very serious issue and a health hazard within the sports field. Most responsible dog owners clean up after pets who have fouled and dispose of it appropriately e.g. in the Dog Bin provided by the council at the entrance to the field at Corner Mount. Some others do not. PLEASE respect and enjoy this generously donated facility and ensure that whoever takes your dog out, cleans up the mess and disposes of it
