We have just been notified by OCC highways that the further closure of the Wardington section of the A361 scheduled for next Monday has now been postponed following objections
I'll keep it short - Without notice the A361 will be closed NORTH of the Hare and Hounds at the village gates and towards Banbury and beyond the turn to Lower Wardington/Church for essential potholes and other road repairs whilst the traffic is relatively light. PLEASE will you pass on by word of mouth that this section of the A361 is closed. Geoff Amos will be running 2 buses to service the route and avoid the closed section. So a bus will run up to Chipping warden and then via Culworth and then a second bus will run between Wardington and Banbury except for the Hare and Hound stop where they wont be able to run. I am able to announce that last evening, I received a full written offer and a signed acceptance of WPCs Terms and Conditions set out for such a Private Donation and this morning I am also delighted to announce that this private donation towards this project was most gratefully accepted. Wardington Parish Council I am now able to advise that Northamptonshire CC / OCC will finalise the erection of weight limit signage (7.5 tonnes) during the week of 21st.March. Signage will cover all exits from Daventry to Williamscot on the A361 and from Great Bourton to Fenny Compton on the A423. The A423 is the scheduled diversion for commercial vehicles leaving the M40 at Banbury for travel to Daventry via Southam. 7.5 tonnes will cover one of the bigger Transit removal vans and it should be noted that any commercial vehicle can avoid weight limit restrictions if they require business access. It was agreed to put together an emergency action plan for bad weather based on the snow guide leaflet recently issued by OCC This would include information whereby the needy and vulnerable could be identified and a tractor/4x4 requested for snow clearance in an emergency. Clerk to organise.
