Wardington Baby & Toddler Group

We are looking to restart the baby & toddler social group in the village. If you have pre-school aged children (or a bump!) please join us for the first session on Tuesday 9th May 13:30-15:00. The session on the 9th of May will be free to help us understand the level interest and ages of children who are likely to attend. Going forward there will be a small cost (approx £3) to cover the hall hire cost and refreshments. There are some toys at the hall from previous groups, but feel free to bring a toy for your little one until we work out what is needed on a regular basis. Any questions, feedback, or want to get involved in

Captain Tom’s Flag by Roderick Stell

“Tomorrow will be a good day” is the expression of hope for the future which many of us associate with the late Captain Tom Moore. He caught the public’s eye when, one hundred years of age, he set out to raise some money for the NHS by walking round his garden with his Zimmer-frame, this was in gratitude for the care he received during a life-threatening illness. Caught up by the media, the few hundred pounds he had hoped to raise became millions. Captain Tom’s autobiography of 2020 came to my attention after his death because he was well-known for his roots in Keighley, my own home town, and I discovered that he and my father had both served in

Coronation celebrations, Saturday 6th May, from 5pm

Although there are no village-wide plans to celebrate the Coronation, there are gatherings in the village on Saturday 6th May from 5pm to toast our new King & Queen. If you wish to join in, please bring a chair, picnic rug, children's tea, cake, sandwiches, a bottle / drink and some nibbles as you wish. Everybody is welcome, there is no formality, it's just a nice excuse for the community to get together. Gatherings are either on School Green (outside Clive & Philippa Hunt’s house) or the Old Pool in Upper Wardington (where we have the carol singing).  There will be bunting and good cheer, weather permitting!

POSTPONED – Casino Night

Due to low ticket sales the Casino Night has been postponed until a future date. The next Friends event is the ever-popular Safari Supper on Friday 23rd June. Save the date! As previously, the road will need to be closed between 5am and 9am. Defibrillator and CPR Training in Wardington

Cardiac Arrest or a heart attack can happen to anyone. When it does, having someone on hand who knows how to perform CPR (Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation) and use a defibrillator is critical and can save a life. We have had a defibrillator in place in Wardington for some time but many people have told us in the past they would not be confident in using resuscitation techniques or in using the defibrillator. In response to this the Parish Council has arranged a Defibrillator and CPR Training session for parishioners with the support of St John Ambulance which will take place from 8:30am to 10:30am at Wardington Memorial Hall on Wednesday 15th March. All are welcome to attend. You are welcome
