Thanks to all from Denise Stear

High above the beautiful Cotswolds, frothy white clouds scudding across a bright sky, a patchwork of fields studded with mellow stone houses below, tied to the outside, yes the outside, of a plane its engines drumming beneath me, yelling at the top of my voice, “I can’t believe I am doing this!” Wing walking is sheer, wonderful, awe- inspiring lunacy. My face literally flapping, air rushing towards me as we bank round to the right and then, stomach lurching, into a nose dive. It was over all too soon, but the sense of exhilaration will remain with me for a very long time. Katharine House Hospice is the most amazing place, giving wonderful care to people at their most vulnerable.

Denise Stear – Wing walking for Katharine House Hospice

On the 1st of October I will be wing walking for Katharine House Hospice - Banbury because it provides support to patients and their families. When I first heard about wing walking I had a moment of madness where I thought 'I could do that'! My family were incredulous...I can't even go on waltzers at the fair.  Katherine House provides tremendous support to patients and their families. In the last few years I have experienced serious illness myself. I know the power of the support that was given to me by my wonderful friends and family and the professionals who worked hard to get me back to health.  I know I'll be terrified, but I hope exhilarated too. I am

Wardington neighbourhood groups

With the overall aim of keeping everyone in the village in touch with each other at this difficult time and providing assistance to each other if or when required, the village has been divided up into twenty-one separate groups of houses with a contact person for each group. At the end of this post there are four maps showing all the house groups both numbered and colour coded. Also there is a list of all the group contacts. Hilary Patterson is the Central Co-ordinator and her contact details are shown at the top of the list Each group contact has a supply of this self-explanatory flyer . As a start to making contact with each group, flyers will be distributed

A Peal for Evelyn Phillips tomorrow morning, starting at 9:30am

A group of experienced ringers from the Banbury & Oxford areas will be coming to ring a peal on the Wardington bells on Saturday 14th December; they will start ringing at about 9.30a.m. and the peal will take approximately 3 hours. Peals are normally rung to mark something special, which may be local or national, and this peal is being rung in appreciation of Mrs Evelyn Phillips and to celebrate her 100th and 101st birthdays. What is a peal? Nowadays it indicates a minimum of 5,040 changes – where two bells change place – but there is also a long list of rules, some of which are:  Every bell must sound at every row of six blows throughout the peal.
