An event for all the family Saturday 5th October 2019 at 6pm in Wardington Memorial Hall This is an event for everyone, young and old with live music, fun and laughter. Enjoy Cottage Pie (vegetarian option available), Harvest Puddings of fruit pies and crumble, followed by Cheese & Biscuits, cash bar and a raffle. There will be a children's table with colouring and other activities so parents can relax! All proceeds to St. Mary Magdalene. Adults £12, Children (8-16) £7 (under 8's FREE), OAP £9. Please come to the Wardington Village Fête and Horticultural Show on Sunday 1st September in the Manor gardens between 2pm and 5pm. This year's fête is kindly sponsored by Mansion Hill Vets, Middleton Cheney, and will raise money for the Wardington Cricket Club, the Church Fabric Fund and Dogs for Good. The fête will be opened at 2pm by Mrs Evelyn Phillips. There will be Morris dancers, Pimms, BBQ, Cream teas, Tombola, Games and a Cake stall. Bert Manton will be with us again with his gipsy caravan. The Garden Club AGM was well attended. We had a good discussion about how we move forward. Everyone wants the Club to continue Jane Pearson will not be continuing as Secretary for reasons we all understand. She and Andrew will remain Members Jane was thanked by everyone and was presented with a very nice bottle by Bridget As a result of the request for new volunteers Bridget will take responsibility for arranging visits with the help of Norman and Jane Hudson. Other Members are asked to help with ideas and recruiting potential new Members. HS2 Update - A361 Road Improvements In case you are not aware, Dawnus working on behalf of Fusion, HS2’s Enabling Works Contractor, entered administration on 14th March 2019. Dawnus were appointed to construct the by-pass at Chipping Warden so work has been halted. In addition, Dawnus was also the sub-contractor responsible for carrying out the necessary road improvements through Wardington. These road works were expected to start soon but now will be subject to some delay. HS2 have advised us that the news about Dawnus was disappointing for them and the wider UK construction industry, HS2 and Fusion are working hard to implement contingency plans to ensure the works are delivered with minimal disruption. You are welcomed with a drink before forming teams of approximately six people. Three 'Bluffers' will then describe the wine you're drinking and your team has to decide who is telling the truth.
