Summary of the HS2 Update Meeting led by Wardington Parish Council held on Thursday July 23rd 2015 at 7.00pm in Wardington Memorial Hall In Attendance:   Mr G Page (Chair), Mr N Bankes (Vice-Chair), Mr M Patterson, Mrs A Pascoe, Mr G Martin, Mr K Atack (District Councillor), Mr M Hickman (Clerk) Visitors: Victoria Prentis (MP for Banbury), Stephanie Garnett (Senior Parliamentary Assistant to Victoria Prentis), Mark Kemp (Deputy Director Commercial OCC), Charles Holbech (Wardington HS2 Action Group) Parishioners: Approximately SIXTY   1. The presentation explains that a HS2 Action Group has been established by the parish council to produce a parliamentary petition

Playground 200 Club

The village playground is funded by subscriptions to the 200 club. £1 per month buys one number entered into the monthly prize draw. There are two prizes drawn each month. First prize : £20 Second prize: £10. Friday night is film night!!!

This coming Friday (26th) will be our last film night for the current season and to add to the occasion we will be holding a BBQ on the new patio at the rear of the Memorial Hall.  BBQ is inclusive of the ticket cost (Standard £7.50/Concessions £5.50).  Please bring your own drinks and nibbles.  A complimentary choc ice is also included in the ticket price.  By popular demand we will also be running a raffle with proceeds (including surplus on ticket sales) goingtowards further improvements to the Memorial Hall's facilities. The final film for this current season (we will be back in September - dates to follow) is 'Chef' - a comedy starring Dustin Hoffman and Robert Downey Junior. BBQ

Marie Curie – 10K Walk to Remember @ Blenheim Palace

  Marie Curie are holding a charity walk at Blenheim Palace on Saturday August 8th. The walk is a 10K evening walk. It is £10 to enter. Participants are asked to raise at least £100. All money raised will go towards funding the fantastic nurses working in Oxfordshire, treating terminally ill patients all over the county. A FUN AFTERNOON AT THE FETE

Over two hundred from the village and further afield flocked to the Manor for a most enjoyable afternoon at the Fete last Sunday. The weather finally came good and the sunglasses and hats were much needed. There was fun on hand for all ages and soon the twenty or so attractions were doing brisk trade with the Garden Club plant stall and Air Ambulance stall both selling out completely. Meanwhile the Morris Dancers, including the Vicar as a volunteer dancer, added plenty of colour in the centre of the lawn. The hot dog BBQ and cream teas were busy throughout along with the Pimms bar being drunk almost dry! Most importantly - the occasion raised the amazing sum of almost

Film, BBQ and Social Extravaganza!

To celebrate a second successful year of Wardington Village Cinema we will be holding a Film, Barbecue and Social event! We would love for you to join us at the Memorial Hall on Friday 26th June at 7pm to enjoy a Barbecue on the new rear patio. The Film selected to fit in with the end of season celebration and barbecue is “Chef" and will follow commencing at 8pm. We then encourage you to stay after the film to socialize, please feel free to also bring along your own food and drink. Special ticket price includes the film and freshly barbecued burger/hot dog with salad:  £5.50 for concessions / £7.50 standard. There will also be a raffle drawn at the conclusion of the film.

Garden Club Stall at the Village Fete

Jean Butler is organising a Garden Club plant stall at the fete on 14 June. Gardening books will also be on sale. Please donate any plants and books that you can spare. She will also require some help on the day. Jean says, "I would be grateful if you would drop any contributions at my house as soon as possible. Alternatively, if it helps, I will collect them". Wardington Village Fete – Manor gardens, 14th June 2-5pm

The Wardington Village Fete will be held in the Manor gardens on 14th June between 2 and 5pm. Highlights this year include: Morris Dancers Best-dressed teddy competition Highland dancing Cake stall Lots of activities Pimms Barbecue Raffle The fete is to raise money for improvements to the Memorial Hall, specifically the current project of buying new chairs. Mobile Library Timetable

Following a recent review of the mobile library service, Oxfordshire County Council have identified that they can better serve the needs of people who find it difficult to get to library buildings by joining up our mobile services and providing better stopping places with longer stops. The new routes and timetables will be introduced on Monday 6th July 2015.   The mobile library will stop in Wardington at: The Old School on 10:00 on Wednesday 15th July (departing 10:20) and then every two weeks henceforth
