Diocese of Oxford – Pastoral Letter

At the request of the Bishop of Dorchester (Acting Bishop of Oxford), the following letter was read out in all Churches in the Diocese of Oxford last Sunday: Pentecost 2015 Pastoral Letter from the Bishops, Dean, Archdeacons and Diocesan Secretary to the Clergy and Churchwardens of the Oxford Diocese   When the day of Pentecost had come, they were all together in one place (Acts 2.1)   Grace, mercy and peace from God the Father and Christ Jesus our Lord.   Clearly it has come as a disappointment that the Crown Nominations Commission were unable to nominate someone to be the next Bishop of Oxford at their recent meeting. Furthermore the fact that they will be unable to interview further candidates

Support from Victoria Prentis MP

I have just received the following email from Victoria Prentis MP: Dear Mr Steven, Thank you very much for your email raising concern over HS2, and specifically the potential impact on Wardington. I’ve been an opponent of HS2 since the day it was announced by the last Labour Government. I have been a Director of Transport Sense, an organisation that fights against the plans. I do not think the business case has been made. I believe that if built, the line will destroy communities. The construction works would have a severe adverse effect across great swathes of the constituency, including the centre of Banbury where the additional traffic would create a logjam. I feel there are better ways of spending

HS2 Community Meeting REMINDER

A reminder that there is a community meeting TOMORROW EVENING, Tuesday 19th May, at 7:30pm in the Memorial Hall, to discuss the very serious environmental implications of HS2, including the huge volume of construction traffic anticipated on the A361. This meeting is intended for residents of Wardington, Williamscot and Coton to listen to the Parish Council's plans and to voice their own opinions. There will be follow-up meetings with members of Oxordshire CC, your local MP Victoria Prentis and others in authority. It is vital that as many as possible attend tomorrow evening. We need to be of one mind and mobilised as a community to ensure the best outcome.
