(21st June, 2016) Approved and signed. 2.    Matters arising from previous minutes. 2.1 HS2 Update Mr Jarrett reported that Charles Holbech, Malcolm Patterson and Bob Jarrett had attended the House of Lords Select Committee Hearing where Charles Holbech had expertly presented our petition. House of Lords Select Committee on HS2

Charles Holbech will be presenting to the House of Lords Select Committee on HS2 on behalf of Wardington tomorrow, Wednesday 20th July 2016. If you wish to watch the proceedings they will be shown on Parliament.tv here: http://goo.gl/DdSjPW. Wardington is scheduled 5th on the agenda and proceedings start at 10:00am and again at 2:00pm. It is likely, given the experience of the House of Commons Select Committee hearing, that Charles will be on after lunch, however this will only become clear on the day. The video of proceedings should be online for some time after the event and we expect that the above link will continue to work for those who can't watch live. (24th May, 2016) Approved and signed. 2.    Matters arising from previous minutes. 2.1 HS2 Update Mr Page reported that there were some discussions taking place between various local groups and HS2 about the possibility of lowering the track in the Upper Boddington section. This would reduce the amount of spoil to be moved through Wardington. Apparently HS2 are showing little interest.

HS2 Action Group Update. It has been three months since the Parliamentary Select Committee and we would like to update you on progress since then. At the Select Committee Hearing in January, HS2 made some assurances to the effect that it was in the interest of both Wardington Parish Council and HS2 to reduce the traffic through Wardington. Assurance was given to seek to use haul roads to carry as much of the HGV traffic as possible. HS2 will also consider extending the haul road between Greatworth and Turweston providing it is economically and technically feasible. HS2 are aware of the cost savings of using the haul road. Mr Mason and Mr Anson attended the meeting to formally object to the fence that had been erected in front of the ‘pond’ by Mr Page. The ‘pond is on unregistered land. Their objections were:- i.

HS2 Update – Parliamentary Select Committing Hearing – January 18th 2016

HS2 ACTION GROUP Parliamentary Select Committing Hearing - January 18th 2016 January 18 was a big day for our village. It was the day when the Parish Council represented by Chair George Page, Nigel Bankes, Malcolm Patterson and Clerk Bob Jarrett;  George Tuthill, representing local business and Charles Holbech a local resident , went to the House of Commons to present Wardington’s  petition. Its aim was to highlight the dangers and problems with HS2’s plan to route construction traffic through the village. We were very fortunate to have Charles Holbech, a barrister who actually lives off the A361, to make the presentation to the Select Committee. Our MP, Victoria Prentis, was there in support.
